A Game about Toxicity in the Workplace

Zoopany - 2022 - 2023

Zoopany is a serious game that was created with the goal of teaching incoming workers to the tech industry how to identify and deal with toxic behavior. The chapter that was created focuses on Gaslighting. Our team of 6 worked closely with our client and subject matter experts to create a game that teaches about toxic behaviors and some of the options one who finds themselves in such an environment can take in a way that is more engaging than traditional sensitivity training. At the end of our development cycle We will held between-subject studies to test the efficacy of our game against standard sensitivity training.

During the development of this game I:

  • Designed progression and character reflection systems that reflected our client's goal
  • Assisted writing dialogue and designing character enteractions
  • Designed music and sfx for the game
  • conducted user studies and data analysis
  • Facilitated narrative and design meetings

An Artificial Intelligenge Rhythm Game

Endless Sound - 2020

Endless sound is a protype for a rhythm game that utilizes Artificial Intelligence to create the music. I was part of a team of 4 who worked together over the course of 3 weeks. Our goal was have a rhythm game that could create endless content. We used the Unity Engine and combined it with Pure Data - an open source visual programming language so we could create pitches from our code. We used our music theory knowledge to create an AI that could produce variety in musical rhythm while avoiding dissonant chords.

In this project I :

  • Designed and implemented the Rhythm game prototype in Unity
  • Created the bridge between the PureData wrapper in C#
  • Worked on music rules for the AI to follow

A Yandere card game

Love Struck - 2019

Love Struck is a card game that plays on the Japanese trope "Yandere" which is an individual who will go to outrageous ends to gain their target of love's affection. If they are unable to obtain affection they will drag everyone down through violent and explosive actions. In this game 3 to 5 players fight over the affection of an NPC (senpai) drawn from a shared deck. Throughout the game players draw from various decks of cards representing ingredients. Players then can use these ingredients to craft recipes on their recipe card(s)to either: gain affection points, sabatoge/eliminate their opponents or kill the target of affection and reset the affection points for all players. The game is won when a player either gets 7 affection points, Kills a target of affection 5 times, or is the last player standing.

From concept to mechanics to art this game was designed entirely by myself. Specifically I :

  • Designed and balanced cards/mechanics
  • Conducted user playtests
  • Designed and created the concept, art, cards and physical tokens
